Racking arriving and being errected last Saturday.

The building has been handed over to us and we've been working hard the past two weekends fitting out the interior and errecting the racking. Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard on getting it ready.

On Tuesday 26th May we shall be moving out of our old hut (horray!) and our first session in the new building will be on June 1st. If you're free on Tuesday, please come down and help.

The building is nearly finished and we should have the keys by the end of the month. It was a hive of activity last Friday as they were building the slipway, doing the tarmac outside the building and 101 other jobs.

We'll be really busy over Easter trying to fit out the interior so that we can move in as soon as possible.

The building is progressing well and should be finished in three weeks. They are about to put the concrete floor in, are finishing off the cladding and are working on the tiling of the changing rooms and the electrics.

Steel framework errected

The clubhouse development is really beginning to take shape now the steelwork has been errected today. From nothing more than a few concrete blocks in the ground yesterday, to something that resembles the beginnings of a building today, it is quite an exciting step forward.

Building to start next week

Now that the site has been cleared and the ground made ready, the main contractors will start work on the building on November 10th - how exciting! There is a build time of 20-weeks giving a completion date of March 20th (although this could be sooner) - just in time for the start of the new paddling season.

The build project will include, boat storage space, changing rooms and toilets, and a meeting room. Outside includes the secure compound, landscaping, a landing stage parallel to the shore and a slipway.

Working parties have been set up to report back to the main TWA committee - if you feel you have any expertise, skills or can contribute in some way, please get in touch with Ruth. The groups are: racking & storage space; facilities & meeting room; and grants & fundraising.

We are still fundraising and finding grants for a floating pontoon, boat racking and interior fittings for the meeting room and 'kitchen' area.

Work has started!

How exciting! Work has started on our new clubhouse, the site has been cleared ready for our contractors to start work at the end of this month.

At many points over the past 3 years its seemed improbable that we'd ever see the day that work would ever begin. We still have a long way to go with more money to be raised but with the lease now signed we're making quantum leaps forwards - well done to Ken and team for all their hard work.
